Drop by Drop: A Rare Sinolea Extraction

Extracted by the unique "Sinolea Rapanelli Drip Method" — in which oil is obtained without any production stress and individual drops of oil are collected from the perforated fruit — this DOP (Denomination of Protected Origin) certified, "Strong Fruity" single-estate extra virgin olive oil is specially selected by Carlo Gradassi.

Pleasantly spicy with a slightly bitter aftertaste, it delivers an intense fruity aroma and the unmistakable taste of freshly crushed, not-yet-ripe olives.

Particularly well-suited for roasted red meats, bruschetta, and legume soups.

Gradassi Lo Storico DOP Assisi-Spoleto: a brief history of an unforgettable experience

"I recently purchased three bottles of Gradassi Lo Storico olive oil, produced in Campello sul Clitunno (Umbria) and distributed by Olive Oil Lovers. This wasn’t just any purchase—I sought it out not only for its subtle taste but for the experience it symbolized for me. Last October, during a solo hike in the Apennines, I trekked along the Via di San Francesco through the Spoleto-Assisi olive belt. The views were breathtaking, but the steep inclines proved challenging. As night fell, I realized I wouldn’t reach my lodging in the tiny village of Campello sul Clitunno Alto. Fortunately, local olive farmers stepped in to call my hosts, Roberta and Paolo, who found me. That evening at dinner, they shared their homemade olive oil, pressed from olives they had grown themselves. I had never tasted anything so delicate and flavorful. Back in the U. S. , I discovered that ordering directly from Italy was prohibitively expensive, but Olive Oil Lovers carried an oil made right in Campello sul Clitunno. I ordered three bottles—one for myself and two for friends who had offered much-needed moral support during my trip. To celebrate, we prepared an Italian meal, using theisversatile oil in every dish, from soup to salad to dessert. Sharing this oil brought back memories of the kindness of both strangers and friends alike on that unforgettable journey."

I like Olive Oil Lovers

"I haven’t used it too much because I’m finishing what I have. I think it’s better than my current one, but not sure. I expect I will order from you again."

Great Product!

"I had no idea how bad the olive oil I had been buying in the grocery store is until I took the step to find REAL olive oils. European regulations (DOP) make all the difference. Thank you!"

Q&A

MADE FOR YOU BY

Frantoio Gradassi

For many years the Gradassi family has been meticulously cultivating olives on the rocky terrains surrounding the medieval hilltop town of Campello sul Clitunno in the central Italian region of Umbria, known for its abundance in rich vegetation as the "Green Heart of Italy."

Following a centuries-old family tradition, the olives are carefully handpicked and then brought to the olive mill on their Estate, which dates back to 1639. The Gradassi family produces some of the most spectacular extra virgin olive oils in Umbria. In 1998 the Gradassis helped form CUFROL, an organization to help consolidate the bottling and storage of oil produced by several local olive mills, the owners of which control a minority share in the company. Warmth, simplicity, authenticity and an incredible passion for the good things in life is their philosophy.
