Orders, Shipping & Returns
What should I do if I have a problem with my order?
If you need to cancel or change an order, please email us as soon as possible. Once an order has entered fulfillment, changes may not always be possible.
If your order arrives with a missing item, damaged product, or another issue, please email us with your name, order number, and a brief description of the problem. For damaged items, please include photos of the product and packaging. If you believe an item is missing, please also include a photo of the shipping box so we can review the shipment accurately.
What happens if my order is damaged during transit?
We will make it right. Contact us with your order number, a brief description of the damage, and clear photos of the damaged product and packaging. We will review the issue and help with a replacement, refund, or store credit when appropriate.
Please note that tin packaging may occasionally dent during transit due to handling or changes in temperature and air pressure. Minor denting is cosmetic and does not affect the quality of the olive oil inside. If a tin arrives severely damaged or leaking, please contact us so we can help.
When will my order be delivered?
Orders ship from our facility in Northern New Jersey. Most orders are picked and packed within 1–2 business days, though this may take longer during sales or peak shopping periods.
Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information. For estimated transit times, please refer to our Shipping page.
Do you offer expedited shipping?
Yes. We offer expedited shipping options through UPS when available at checkout.
Please note that UPS does not count the pickup day, weekends, or major national holidays as transit days. Orders placed close to the weekend may require additional calendar days for delivery.
At this time, we are unable to offer expedited shipping to Puerto Rico.
Should I be concerned about heat or cold during shipping?
Olive oil should be protected from prolonged exposure to high heat, but brief exposure during transit is not usually a concern. A package sitting on a delivery truck for several hours, even in warm weather, is not expected to damage the quality or flavor of the oil.
Cold temperatures may cause olive oil to thicken or partially solidify, but this does not harm the oil. Once the bottle returns to room temperature, the oil will return to its normal consistency.
Before shipping, all products are stored in our temperature-controlled facility and protected from heat and light.
How long do I have to return an item?
If you are not satisfied with your product, you may request an exchange or refund within 14 calendar days of receiving your order.
When a return is approved, we will provide a return label. Return labels are valid for 14 calendar days from the date they are issued. Refunds are based on the condition of the returned product.
For full details, please review our Refund Policy.
Do you ship internationally?
We do not ship internationally at this time. We currently ship within the United States.
Can you ship one order to multiple locations?
Not at this time. Each order can only be shipped to one address. If you need to send products to multiple locations, please place a separate order for each shipping address.
Choosing & Using Olive Oil
What should I look for when buying olive oil?
Always choose extra virgin olive oil. Avoid lower-quality categories such as refined olive oil, light olive oil, pomace oil, or virgin olive oil.
Freshness is also important. Look for the harvest date whenever possible, and choose an oil from the most recent harvest season. At Olive Oil Lovers, we display the harvest date on our product pages so you can easily understand the freshness of each oil.
We only sell premium extra virgin olive oils selected from trusted producers and reviewed for quality before being offered on our site.
Which olive oils are rich in polyphenols?
Polyphenols are natural antioxidants found in extra virgin olive oil. Oils made from early-harvest olives, certain olive varieties, and more robust styles often contain higher polyphenol levels.
When producers provide polyphenol testing, we display that information on the product page. You can also browse our dedicated Oils With Polyphenolic Testing collection, or use the polyphenol filter while browsing any olive oil collection.
Because olive oil is a natural product, polyphenol levels gradually soften over time. Fresher oils generally have the most pronounced flavor and highest antioxidant content.
Do you have organic olive oils?
Yes. We carry a wide selection of organic extra virgin olive oils from many of our major regions.
Organic certification can offer peace of mind, but it is not the only indicator of quality. Many exceptional extra virgin olive oils are produced by growers who follow careful, responsible farming and production practices without carrying organic certification.
What is the best way to store olive oil?
The two biggest enemies of olive oil are heat and light. To preserve freshness and flavor, store your bottle in a cool, dark place, such as a cabinet or pantry.
Avoid keeping olive oil next to the stove, near a sunny window, or under strong overhead light. Once opened, use the oil within a reasonable timeframe for the best flavor.
Is olive oil safe for cooking?
Yes. High-quality extra virgin olive oil is suitable for most everyday cooking applications.
Quality extra virgin olive oils generally have a higher smoke point than many people realize, often around 365–410°F depending on the oil. Extra virgin olive oil is also naturally rich in antioxidants, which helps it remain stable during cooking.
For most sautéing, roasting, baking, and everyday cooking, extra virgin olive oil is an excellent choice.
What are the best olive oils for cooking?
For everyday cooking, many customers prefer a milder or medium-intensity olive oil that will not overpower the dish.
Arbequina oils are often mild, fruity, and well suited for delicate foods. Koroneiki oils are typically a bit more robust and versatile, making them a great choice for a wide range of everyday cooking.
If you cook with olive oil often, we recommend choosing an oil that offers excellent quality and value, so you can use it generously.
Why is my olive oil bitter?
Bitterness is a natural and positive attribute of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. It often comes from fresh, healthy olives and the natural antioxidants found in the oil.
Some oils are more bitter or peppery than others. If you prefer a softer flavor, we can help you find a milder option. If you are not satisfied with an opened product, please contact us for assistance.
Do you have recipes you recommend?
Yes. You can find recipes and serving ideas on our blog, including ways to use extra virgin olive oil for cooking, finishing, baking, salads, and more.
Our Olive Oils
Are all your olive oils new harvest?
Yes, we focus on fresh, current-harvest olive oils.
There is usually a brief period from late winter through spring when both new harvest oils and previous-harvest oils are available. This happens as new harvest oils arrive in the United States and previous-harvest oils sell through.
When we offer a previous-harvest item, the harvest year is clearly shown. These oils are often included in our Annual Harvest Sale and can offer excellent value while still meeting our quality standards.
When do new harvest olive oils arrive?
The Northern Hemisphere olive harvest usually begins in October and may continue through November or December. Most new harvest olive oils are bottled after a short settling period and arrive at our U.S. facility beginning in late January, with more arrivals continuing through spring. We usually have much of our new harvest catalog available by mid-April.
Each year, we also offer a very limited selection of ultra-fresh early harvest olive oils, often called Novello or Nuovo. hese specialty oils are bottled immediately after harvest and flown to the United States so customers can enjoy them only days after production.
Our early harvest Novello oils are typically offered for preorder in early autumn and delivered before the Christmas holiday season. Quantities are limited, and once they sell out, they are not restocked for that harvest season.

Are your olive oils real extra virgin olive oil?
Yes. Olive Oil Lovers was created to bring trust and transparency to the olive oil market.
We source from producers we know and trust, many of whom we have visited personally. We evaluate producers carefully and only offer oils that meet our standards for quality, freshness, flavor, and authenticity.
Our extra virgin olive oils are supported by chemical analysis and quality review, so you can shop with confidence.
Are your olive oils cold-extracted?
Yes. Our extra virgin olive oils are mechanically extracted without chemical refining.
The phrase "first cold-pressed" is commonly used in marketing, but it is outdated and often technically inaccurate. Most high-quality extra virgin olive oils today are made using modern cold-extraction systems, where the olive paste is processed at controlled temperatures to preserve quality, flavor, and aroma.
What is the best-by date on your products?
Most olive oils include a Best Before, Best By, or Best If Used By date. This is the producer’s suggested timeframe for enjoying the oil at its best flavor. It is not an expiration date.
At Olive Oil Lovers, we believe the harvest date is the most important freshness indicator. The harvest date tells you when the olives were picked and milled, which gives a more accurate picture of the oil’s age and freshness.
We display the harvest date on every olive oil product page whenever available.
